Alberto Pérez de Alba Ortíz is an assistant professor in the Computational Soft Matter Lab, affiliated to both the van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS) and the Informatics Institute (IvI) at UvA’s Faculty of Science. My current interests center on the design and study of novel molecular and material systems with applications in planetary and human health. Also in 2023, he became part of the Research Priority Area in Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Molecules and Materials, co-leading two projects. In 2024, he obtained an NWO Veni grant to focus on predicting nanoplastic risks to cardiovascular proteins. He is an active member of the HIMS Diversity team, founding a new fellowship program for students from underrepresented groups.
