AYA Coffee Chats: Young Researchers in Exile

Sessions on June 16, 23, 30

Young researchers in Exile

The Amsterdam Young Academy hosts a series of free online coffee-chats that connect young scholars who have been facing issues with research with those who have tips or experiences to share to help overcome those. With the current uncertainties and unanticipated constraints on many areas of work life, young scholars face challenges in conducting their research and we would like to offer any help and advice we can.

After a brief kick-off by a hosting AYA member (Anastasia Sergeeva, Rik Peels, Yarin Eski), young scholars will get an opportunity to share and network and discuss some specific concerns. Each event will have a general theme (data collection, reading group and networking), and in addition will also provide an informal space for conversation and collective exploration. Depending on the number of participants, there will also be small breakout discussions for young scholars to share more discipline-specific insights. While these events aims to offer concrete support for young academics who are struggling, we also aim to sustain community activity in the times of remote academic work.
